How to Make Daily Videos When You’re a Busy Mom | Vlogmas

How to Daily Vlog

So I decided to participate in Vlogmas, a yearly YouTube tradition to post daily videos from December 1st until Christmas on December 25th.

What made me decide to do this crazy thing when I haven’t even posted weekly videos?

I need three things to make a commitment like this:

  1. It must be fun.
  2. I already have the resources to make it happen.
  3. I was already thinking of how I can post videos on a weekly basis. If I can post daily for a few weeks, posting weekly will be a breeze.

Resources to Make Daily Videos

Let’s talk resources. What do I mean by that?

I already have the equipment. I purposely just upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy 10 5G because of the quality of the photos and videos it takes. (It even has six cameras on it!) I have a microphone that plugs into my phone…somewhere. Okay, I have to find that, but I know I have it. I have a “dead cat” for the mic, a fuzzy windbreaker cover for the mic to block out excess noise. I have a lot of tripods, Gorilla pods, a selfie stick, and a strong phone holder that can switch to any of these.

I also have the one thing that will make this challenge relatively easy — lots and lots of videos. Facebook Live videos, Instagram stories, IGTV videos, YouTube videos on other channels, videos just sitting in Dropbox waiting to be edited, etc.

Content Repurposing

I can do what content marketing experts call, “repurposing”. That is, using content you’ve already created and repackaging it into a different format. For example, you can take a slide deck you’ve already created, record a voiceover (Microsoft PowerPoint has this feature), and now you have a video!

Gary Vaynerchuck just posted this incredible slide deck on content repurposing and just how easy it can be to create content.

Content Syndication

You can also just post the original content and repost it on a different platform. That is called Content Syndication.

I used to avoid content syndication because I was taught in my SEO certification that Google penalizes duplicate content. That’s not exactly true.

Here’s the truth from Google: “Google will always show the version we think is most appropriate for users in each given search.”

Meaning, your website may not be the version that Google shows. However, if you can link back to your site in the bio or in the content, you still have a way for people to navigate back to you. If you’re not allowed or can’t link back to your site, make sure your contact information, your phone number and your email address, can be easily accessible on the site.

So to save time, I’m syndicating (reposting) content everywhere.
